Background
Benevenia is Professor and Chair of the Department of Orthopaedics at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and directs the Division of Musculoskeletal Oncology at University Hospital, Newark, where his subspecialty is bone and soft-tissue tumors treated with allograft and endoprosthetic reconstruction and limb-salvage surgery. He earned his medical degree from UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School in 1984, completed his orthopaedic residency at University Hospital Newark, and a fellowship in orthopaedic oncology and pathology at Case Western Reserve University. He is President-elect of the North American Musculoskeletal Tumor Society and serves on AAOS's Board of Specialty Societies and Central Evaluation Committees.
