Surgery is a few hours. Rehabilitation is the year that follows.
The bone is lengthened at roughly a millimetre a day for four to eight weeks, then spends three to six months hardening. What decides whether you walk normally at the end of it is not the device — it is whether the muscles, tendons and joints were kept moving through every one of those weeks. Contractures at the knee and ankle, not the bone itself, are the most common reason a result disappoints.
That work is daily physiotherapy: stretching, joint mobility, gait re-education, and a load progression matched to what the X-rays show. A clinic that operates well but hands you a leaflet afterwards is a different proposition from one with a physiotherapist on the ward every day — so we record rehabilitation support on every clinic profile where it is published, and we treat it as a line item, not a footnote.

Limb lengthening is a six-figure surgery, and most of what patients find about it is marketing. So we don’t ask you to take our word for anything: every rating is sourced, every price is the clinic’s own, and our method is published. No clinic can pay to appear, to rank, or to change a word.
We never hide a platform behind one number.
We pull each clinic’s score from the review platforms its patients actually use, and always show every one separately, source-linked. For ranking we publish a Directory Score — a transparent, review-volume-weighted formula you can audit — but we never bury the individual platforms behind it, or quietly drop the unflattering one.

A directory paid by outcome has a reason to push you toward surgery, and toward whichever clinic pays the most for you. We took that reason away. We are paid, if at all, for space on a page, and we never find out whether you booked.
It is also what keeps us a publication rather than a health-tourism intermediary, which in Türkiye is a licensed and supervised activity. The rule is not only ours to bend.
No payment adds a recommendation, a “top rated” badge, a place in a comparison, or one flattering adjective. A clinic can buy room to tell you its own story, in its own words, clearly marked. It cannot buy a word of ours, and it cannot remove an unflattering fact.
Turkish health-advertising law forbids superiority claims outright, so for a large part of this directory the answer would be no even if we were the kind of people who would say yes.

Peer-reviewed papers report complication rates of 30–45% for cosmetic limb lengthening. Serious complications — non-union, nerve injury, deep infection — occur in roughly 5–15% of cases. Rates depend heavily on the method and the surgeon's annual volume. Internal-nail methods (PRECICE 2, PRECICE Max) have lower complication rates than external fixators. There is no single answer — they trade off cost against comfort. PRECICE 2 is an internal magnetic nail with weekly clinic visits, no external hardware, and lower complication rates. It is the premium-tier choice and typically costs more. LON (Lengthening Over Nail) combines an external fixator with an internal nail. It costs less and dominates the Turkish market. The external fixator is uncomfortable and requires careful pin-site care. Method choice should follow your surgeon, not your shortlist.

Full recovery is 9–18 months. The distraction phase (active lengthening at ~1 mm/day) runs 8–10 weeks. The consolidation phase (the new bone hardening) runs another 3–6 months. Walking without aids returns at 4–6 months. Running and impact sports come back at 9–12 months. Patients who rushed the timeline account for most of the late refractures we see in published case series — do not negotiate this part with the surgeon.
