Background
Dmitry A. Popkov is Head of the Neuro-orthopaedic Clinic at the Russian Ilizarov Scientific Center for Restorative Traumatology and Orthopaedics, Kurgan, holding the rank of Professor and a Doctor of Medical Sciences degree. He graduated from the Medical Faculty of Chelyabinsk State Medical University (1989–1995), qualified as a traumatologist-orthopaedist at the Ilizarov Center (1998), earned his PhD in Traumatology and Orthopedics there the same year, and defended his Doctor of Medical Science thesis at the Center in 2005. He also trained in pediatric orthopaedic surgery at Université Henri Poincaré, Nancy I, France (from 2000). His research covers flexible intramedullary nailing, pediatric trauma, and guided growth, and he is a Corresponding Member of the French Academy of Medical Sciences.
