Background
Prof. Dr. Halil İbrahim Balcı graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Medicine (1997–2004) and completed his orthopedics residency at Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine (2004–2010). He holds European Board of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EBOT) certification (2013), was appointed Associate Professor in 2017, and was promoted to Professor in 2022. A two-time Paley Institute fellow — research fellowship in 2014–2015 and observership in 2019 at St. Mary's Hospital, West Palm Beach, Florida — he specialized in deformity surgery, Ilizarov techniques, and pediatric congenital anomalies. He has served as Deputy Chief Physician at Istanbul University (2017–2019), is a founding member of the Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction Society (LLRS North America, 2019), and has over 50 international peer-reviewed publications plus co-edited the Springer textbook on Ilizarov external fixator principles.
