Confirmed means one of two things here: the person said it themselves, on a platform they control or in an interview they gave; or a reputable outlet covered the surgery with their participation, under their real name. Three people who could reasonably be called celebrities meet that bar.

Actor Rich Rotella had both femurs lengthened at the Paley Institute in April 2022 and filmed it. Theresia Fischer, a Hamburg model known from Germany's Next Topmodel and Promi Big Brother, had her femurs lengthened in 2016 and her tibiae in 2022, and has discussed both on RTL and on Instagram. Yeferson Cossio, with more than 28 million Instagram and TikTok followers, announced his surgery in a December 2023 video and posted the result, with X-rays, in May 2024.

The table gives the numbers each has put on the record. Where a figure is missing, the person has not stated it and we have not guessed.

Rotella is the case search results surface first for actor limb lengthening, and the answer to which actor got limb lengthening surgery. He was 37, 5 ft 5 in, and tired of being told he was too short to play a lead. On 19 April 2022 Dr Dror Paley cut both femurs and fitted a magnetic lengthening nail in each. Rotella turned an external controller four times a day, a quarter of a millimeter per session, for 80 days: 1 mm a day, the standard rate. He stayed in West Palm Beach for three months of daily appointments, was still in a wheelchair a month after surgery, and told CBS12 the pain felt like two sharks biting his thighs.

He also published the money. Each nail cost about $15,000; with hospital and physiotherapy the bill came to roughly $100,000 out of pocket, because insurance covers lengthening for medical reasons, not cosmetic ones. The nails came out in 2023. In a March 2024 ITV News interview he said his casting auditions had risen by more than 30 percent, a figure only he can verify.

He filmed the whole process with YouTuber Victor Egonu for a documentary, which is why the Rich Rotella limb lengthening case is unusually well evidenced: surgeon, hospital, dates, device, price and outcome are all on the record, from him and from Paley, who told PEOPLE he has done at least 1,000 lengthenings for stature alone.

Fischer is the only woman among the confirmed celebrity cases and the only one who has said she regrets the reason she did it. She was 24 in 2016 when her femurs were lengthened. In an RTL interview in 2023 she said she had lied for years about her motive: the second operation, on her tibiae, had been presented as an anatomical fix, and the real driver was pressure from her then husband. The two operations added 14 cm, about 5.5 inches, with telescopic nails; the second cost more than 50,000 euros on its own. The New York Post put her total spend, nail removals and rehabilitation included, above $162,000.

The last hardware, two extension rods in her lower legs, came out at a university hospital in June 2024. She posted from the ward: eight years of physical and mental pain she could not put into words.

Hers is the rare confirmed case with a long tail: eight years from first osteotomy to last removal. One patient's course, not a rate, but the opposite of the tidy before-and-after in clinic galleries.

Cossio brought the surgery to a larger audience than anyone else on this list. In December 2023 he told his followers, in Spanish, that he was 5 ft 8 in, that the surgery was purely aesthetic, and that he had a couple of hundred million pesos to spend on it; he put the bill at 200 to 700 million Colombian pesos, roughly $50,000 to $175,000. Colombian outlet Infobae followed each stage: six to eight hours of daily therapy plus three to four hours of exercise, under five hours of sleep, and pain that woke him 30 to 35 times a night.

On 26 May 2024 he posted the result: 1.77 m to 1.85 m, 8 cm, with the lengthening hardware removed after eight months.

Eight centimeters is the top of the 5 to 8 cm range clinics quote for one round of lengthening, and above the 67 mm mean in the 2025 systematic review of 760 aesthetic patients. He has not publicly named the surgeon or the country, so this site does not either.

These are not celebrities. They are the people whose cases give the celebrity limb lengthening question its only reliable evidence, because each spoke on the record and, in the BBC cases, let the reporter see the imaging.

Two of the five had a bad outcome. Barny's bones never bridged the gap and he carried a rod for five years. Elaine Foo's lengthening left her with a broken femur, further operations and a legal claim that her surgeon, who is named in the BBC report, settled in July 2024 for a substantial sum without admitting liability, while denying negligence. Three got the outcome they paid for. That split, in a self-selected handful, is not a rate. But it rhymes with the published one: the 2025 systematic review of 760 aesthetic lengthening patients found satisfaction of 88.8 to 98 percent alongside frequent infection, joint and bone-healing complications.

Search for celebrity limb lengthening or famous people leg lengthening and you will find lists naming Hollywood actors, footballers and pop stars. None of them has confirmed the surgery. The evidence is always the same: two photographs years apart, a height copied from a fan site, a gait someone finds odd. That is not evidence of anything. Apparent height in a photograph moves with footwear, lifts, posture and camera height, and listed celebrity heights are self-reported.

We exclude the rumors for three reasons. First, this is a medical site, and a false claim that a named person had bone surgery is defamatory. Second, a rumor teaches you nothing about the operation; a confirmed case gives you a surgeon, a device, a timeline and a price. Third, the surgery is hard to hide. Every confirmed patient spent months in rehabilitation and a year or more with hardware in the leg. A working actor or footballer cannot vanish for that long without a cover story.

One conflation deserves its own line. Growth-hormone treatment, which Lionel Messi received as a child through nightly injections that FC Barcelona took over paying for, is not limb lengthening. It acts on open growth plates before adulthood and involves no cut bone. Read the eight cases together and a pattern is hard to miss.

Where the segment is stated, the first operation was the femur (Rotella, Fischer, Foo), and the two who went further (Fischer, Gibson) came back years later for the tibiae rather than doing both at once. Stated gains per operation were 7 to 8 cm: 3 inches for Rotella, Becker, Barny and Gibson's first surgery, a 7 cm target for Foo's right femur, 8 cm for Cossio. That is the band the literature reports, 62 to 87 mm across the 12 studies in the 2025 review, mean 67 mm. Nobody reported more than 8 cm from one operation.

The prices are public and sit inside the $75,000 to $280,000 US range the BBC reported in 2020: Rotella about $100,000, Gibson $173,000 across two operations, Foo about £50,000, Fischer more than $162,000, Cossio by his own estimate $50,000 to $175,000.
