Background
David Goodier is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in the Limb Reconstruction Unit at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, which he joined in 2011. He qualified from the Royal London Hospital (1985) and worked there and at St Bartholomew's Hospital as lead consultant for trauma orthopaedics for 15 years, three as Head of Department. He travelled twice to the Ilizarov Institute in Kurgan, Siberia, to study circular-frame technique, and has since pioneered limb reconstruction using Ilizarov and other external fixators, plus deformity correction and osteomyelitis management at RNOH. He teaches on Ilizarov courses and spent ten years on the FRCS (Tr&Orth) examination board.
